America has gone from being a great country to one of uncertainty and fear. This is not the America that I recognize, nor is it the America of freedom and opportunity.
The America I love seeks to protect and defend the liberties of economic and personal freedoms of her citizens. We are a country of innovation and courage, but the politics and partisanship of Washington are failing us. This failure has overshadowed America’s greatness.
Restoring America will require women and men of courage and conviction to act in her defense. We need real solutions to rebuild America into a strong country. Citizens should be proud of America as she once again builds her strength as the beacon of prosperity and freedom.
ISSUES:
2nd Amendment
I support the Constitution and 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. When the government overstretches its powers to PROHIBIT individuals from protecting themselves, we should reconsider the intrusive role of the federal government in our lives.
Pro-life
I am a staunch pro-life Republican, and believe that life begins at conception. I believe all life is valuable and has a purpose. Women want the right to their bodies and to decide what is best for them. We need to explain to women, how abortion affects their health, and the life of the unborn child. Informing women about the value of life, would help us to pass better laws that would focus on protecting women, their health, and the unborn.
Sanctity of Marriage
I am a supporter of Individual Rights and States’ Rights. When we start to infringe too much on people’s personal lives to qualify them as fit, we risk defending our right to privacy and freedoms. That is why I believe that States have the RIGHT to decide what best fits their moral and Constitutional legal best interest. I supported DOMA, when it was law; however, when the Supreme Court struck it down as unconstitutional, our moral law was placed in conflict with man made laws. Now we must think about this issue and our right to liberty.
Obamacare
I believe that ACA is the most expensive and inadequate law Congress has ever passed. It is anti-business, pro-tax, and anti-capitalist. The idea seeks to insure people even if it is against their will, and the law seeks to punish individuals who do not participate in the program. Implementing the program is already costing $3M for training, while states decide and learn how to apply it. ACA will also GROW the IRS, one of the most disliked agencies within our government. This is out of touch with protecting our individual freedom of choice. Health Care must be made available and accessible to people which it is in many of our states, Texas in particular.
National Security
Defending America is a top priority and it should be. Our borders must be protected and our foreign policy should be rigid, as Reagan believed. Our ability to project force around the world is necessary to protect American Interests around the world. I believe, while aiding our allies, that American foreign policy must stay away from organizations like the U.N., who seek to weaken our role in the world. And more importantly, our military must keep strong and act unilaterally when we see the need to protect our allies and American Interests around the world.
Support for Israel
I support Israel, our best ally in the Middle Eastern region.
The Middle East
America is a leader. That role should never change in this world. We must lead courageously, and have a plan to share our form of governance with other countries. Countries look to the U.S. for leadership, and this admiration has dwindled, especially within that last five years. We are no longer a country that is strong, vibrant, or a role model. We have become an apologetic country that lacks the respect of countries like Egypt. While, it is important that we offer guidance, we should do so from a distance, on foreign situations. If we intend to assist, we must do so for the sole benefit of the U.S. and our own citizens.
Immigration Reform/Dream Act
I believe that we must reform our Broken Immigration system. It is not modern, prohibits our economic opportunities, and allows many to become undocumented. If we intend to deal with overstays and illegal entries, then we must deal with them accordingly. But we must be honest and admit that the policy upon which the law was construed was a complete failure. Let’s write a law that is good for America, and for the Texas economy. We need to extend our labor force and grow tax-payers which is a benefit as our population ages. Those who cannot meet our requirements should leave the country, and I am willing to support this essential point.
School Choice
I support parents who want to make better choices for their family. As a mother of two, I find myself very involved in my children’s education. I have had to challenge their studies on various occasions, such as suggest more books, take them on trips, get tutoring for them. But this was my individual responsibility as a parent. The government should not restrict our choices, but should give parents the responsibility for their children’s education.
The Economy
We need to stop taxing people and small businesses. We need to make difficult choices in the type of spending that does not hurt our populace, but rather invests in them for the future. Middle America built the strength of this country and we have basically slapped them in the face with less opportunity and higher taxes. Our economic system is tied into ACA, Immigration, and Energy exploration and we simply try to segregate everything and poison the well. We need to find solutions to these issues, not just offer divisive rhetoric that further depletes our American morale.
America’s energy policies
We should be less restrictive on opportunities to use our resources that can create new jobs and offer energy to our communities. We need to offer better foreign policies to countries south of the border that may want to share their energy through partnerships that would benefit our economy in the trillions of dollars. I am specifically referring to Mexico.
